Actually, you get two-for-one today since we missed last week.

But I’ll keep them short 😊

 

  1. The Mercantile Library in Cincinnati has a 10,000 year lease on its building(yes, that is correct – ten thousand years).
    1. And yes, that lease is renewable.
    2. In perpetuity.
    3. You can say the name “MercanTILE or MercantTEEL… Either way is perfectly acceptable. You might decide to pick one and stick with it, or you might find it fun to alternate between the two… whichever makes you happy. OR, just say The Merc (merk)”
  2. The Iditarod (1,000-mile sled dog race from Willow to Nome, Alaska) is in the midst of its 50th run. You can check out the race standings here.
    1. But more importantly, you can check out profiles of the dogs, including pictures, here.

Have a Happy Thought:     At the end of this week, possibly as you are reading this email, you get to have some separation between work colleagues and home life. Have a Happy Thought:     The new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is opening up the origins of the universe and very distant galaxies, stars and exoplanets to our understanding.   You’d think we’re only looking that far because we’ve figured out how everything works closer to us, right?   Wrong! Science is great because there’s always something new to explore and figure out. Have a Happy Thought: While some of our holiday breaks may be fresh in mind, others may be distant memories. Either way, I hope you’re entering 2024 with at least some positive energy.
